POTOSI - Anita Marie Blindert, age 66, of Potosi, WI completed her gracious trip on earth on Sunday, February 1, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family.
Anita was born May 9, 1959, to loving parents Virgil (Duke) and Mary (Brawner) Horner in Lancaster, WI. She was born the fifth of six children, into what would become a close-knit family built on faith and love. Anita attended Ss. Andrew-Thomas Elementary School and later graduated from Potosi High School in 1977. She was a proud lifetime member of the St. Thomas Church in Potosi. Shortly after high school, she married Rod Blindert on November 11, 1978. Through their 47 years of marriage, they showed the world what it was to be married to your best friend and displayed absolute love to each other and all who came into their lives.
Anita and Rod built a legacy with their two daughters, Joy Marie and Ashley Ann, which later cascaded to their beloved grandchildren, Riley John, Kylee Marie, and River John. There certainly was no such thing as spoiling with Grammy for her three most precious treasures, they were her absolute pride and joy. Anita never missed a school or sporting event, 4H activity, trap shooting, dirt bike race, volleyball game, school programs, graduation, or anything else any of the kids or grandkids were involved in. This was even true for her nieces and nephews; it was rare to not see her in the stands. Anita also had a heart for animals, especially cats and dogs, and collecting all things penguins. She was known to decorate each holiday with the most spirit.
When not attending an event, you could find Anita and Rod taking the grandkids on summer vacation to different parts of the country, always finding adventure along the way. Otherwise, you would find them on their Harley Davidson, making one of their many cross-country trips, having put on tens of thousands of miles. They especially loved visiting Yellowstone National Park, Sturgis, Tail of the Dragon, Niagara Falls, Canada, taking part in memorial rides, and many other memorable trips. Their motorcycle trips were built on old friendships that only grew deeper and memories to last lifetimes.
It’s been said her true passion in life may have been bargain shopping and garage sales, which she supported with her unmatched work ethic. Anita spent her years of hard work co-owning Blindert’s Processing Plant, waitressing at Blindert’s Yacht Club and other local establishments, co-owning The Rock Garden, and many years in factory work, having a well-deserved retirement in 2025 after 32 years at Skyline Homes. Most recently, Anita and 3 of her sisters began A Little Bit of Everything gift shop in memory of their sister Bonnie.
Anita lived a life with a servant’s heart – for her family, friends, community, and strangers alike. Anita showed unwavering strength, warmth, and positive energy, and made an impact in all our lives. She made others feel valued, important, and loved. We can only imagine her journey home to reunite with family and friends who have gone before us was filled with peace.
If there’s one thing to remember: all people die, but not all people live. And we can say with the utmost confidence, Anita lived.
Anita is survived by her husband, Rod; daughters Joy (Jake) Droessler and Ashley (Ryan) Kisting; grandchildren Riley Droessler, Kylee Droessler, and River Kisting; her siblings Betty Leeser, Alan (Paulette) Horner, Ruthie Horner, and Becky (Walt) Burbach. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins, and wonderful close friends.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Mary; sister Bonnie Leeser; parents-in-law Carl and Dorothea Blindert; brother-in-law Rocky Blindert; and other cherished family members.
