Barbara J. Reuter

Barbara “Barb” Jean Reuter, age 74, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Grant Regional Health Center surrounded by her family. She was born on November 3, 1950, in Lancaster, the daughter of Leo and Eileen (Ferris) Schneider. Barb graduated from Potosi High School in 1968. On May 22, 1971, she was united in marriage to Gary Reuter at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson. After their marriage, Barb was able to stay at home and raise her two children, Scott and Angela, while also babysitting other neighborhood children. Barb worked as a CNA for many years and was also employed at Blue Cross Blue Shield. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Barb also enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading and watching Hallmark movies.

Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Gary; their children: Scott (Kate) Reuter and Angela (Steve) McLean, all of Lancaster; grandchildren: Austin and Izzy Reuter and Wyatt and Maci McLean; her siblings: Rick (Sue) Schneider, Madison, Mary Johnson, Lancaster; in-laws: Kay (Dave) Krohn, Madison, Sue Devine, Eau Claire, Dave (Debbie) Reuter, Lancaster, Alan Reuter, Dubuque, IA, Marianne (Kevin) Klais, Fennimore; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her brothers, Mike and Dave Schneider, brother-in-law, Stephen Reuter; mother and father-in-law, Irvin and Elaine Reuter; and a nephew, Mick Schneider.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Eckstein Building in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. A Celebration of Life will follow from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Eckstein Building. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Kramer-Grau Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with her care.
