Devoted husband and father, Dan Dahlgren, 93, of Lancaster, Wisconsin passed away on May 19, 2026.
He was born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1933 and went on to become a lifelong educator. Dan attained degrees from Harding University (B.A.), University of Iowa (M.A.) and Winona State University (EdS).
He had a passion for education which led him to a 41-year career progressing from teacher to Principal to District Administrator. His career began as Science and Social Science teacher in Parma, Missouri where his greatest accomplishment was meeting his loving wife of 66 years, Deloris, who worked in the school office. In the final role he served Lancaster Schools as District Administrator from 1981 to 1999 where Dan and Deloris have made their home since.
Dan was a proud Veteran who served with honor during the Korean War. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hoquiam, USS Everett and USS Halsey Powell. In later years he was an active member of the American Legion and VFW. A fond memory of his was participating in the Honor Flight in 2023 and the Iowa Veterans DC Honor Tour in 2018.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Arvid Dahlgren, mother Lady Dahlgren, brother Carl and is survived by his wife Deloris, sons Dan (Valerie), Don (Kerri) and Derek (Lynn), grandchildren Jeff, Kimberly, Dan, Brandon, Travis, Kyle, Hannah, Joshua and Andrew along with many great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Lancaster Congregational Church followed by burial with military honors accorded by the Richard Burns American Legion Post No. 109, William Pollock VFW Post No. 2344 and the DAV Chapter 40 will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Dates of services will be announced at a later date. Donations in his name may be made to the Lancaster Scholarship Foundation at PO Box 333, Lancaster, WI 53813.
