MIDDLETON – Earl C. Volkmann, age 95, of Middleton, Wisconsin, formerly of Platteville and Fennimore, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg. He was born on September 5, 1930, the son of Clarence and Olga (Falk) Volkmann in Iron Ridge, Wisconsin. Earl received a mortuary science degree in 1952 from the University of Minnesota and a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Wisconsin in 1956. He earned his US Army commission in 1956, serving at Fort Eustis, Virginia.
Earl was united in marriage to Marlene Sveum, on December 30, 1955. In 2025 they celebrated 70 years of marriage. He owned and operated funeral homes for 25 years and also furniture stores for 50 years.
Earl is survived by his loving wife, Marlene; sons: Kurt (Judi) and Eric (Sheri) Volkmann; grandchildren: Nicholas (Stephanie), Connor, Megan, Nathan, Matthew (Brianna), and Joshua Volkmann; great grandchildren: Sophia, Addilyn, and Eleanor Volkmann; and many relatives and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held on January 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Kramer-Grau Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lancaster. Burial will be held at Prairie Cemetery, Fennimore. Family and friends may gather from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Kramer-Grau Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
