LANCASTER - On June 30, 2026, Eileen J. Blum was taken from this Earth to plant flowers in Heaven. Eileen was born October 10, 1929, to Melvin and Alice (Skinner) Schumacher. Her younger years were spent near Glen Haven.
On November 5, 1947, Lawrence Ritter and Eileen were married in Lancaster. They raised six children in the Potosi/Cassville area: Larry Ritter, Sandra (David Becker) Shaffer, David (Cindy) Ritter, Cheryl (Joe) Hromadka, Steven (Trina) Ritter, and Marceil (Troy) Sharp. Lawrence and Eileen shared 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Together, they worked at Eileen’s upholstery business, camped, and gardened. Lawrence preceded her in death on August 22, 1994.
In 1996, Arnold Smith came into her life. They shared 13 years of marriage. From this union, Eileen gained four stepchildren: Annette Currie, Ronald (Ruth) Smith, Bruce (Rosemary) Bishop, and Connie (Gary) Bower.
Last, but not least, Millard (Pete) Blum was her travelling companion from 2011-2022. Oh, the fun they had! This union added four more stepchildren: Cathy (Dick) Foley, Karen (Pat) Russell, Dan (Tori Knox) Blum, and Dennis Blum.
Eileen’s deep faith was shown by example. Family was extremely important to her. She was known for her flower gardens, love of birds, sharing her vocal talent, and volunteering wherever needed. Indeed, she was a kind soul with a big heart. Eileen will truly be missed by her family, many siblings, and friends.
Eileen’s family would like to thank Orchard Manor for the wonderful care provided to her during the last month of her 96 years.
To honor Eileen’s wishes, there will be no service.
