BAGLEY – Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Gabel Hessling, age 88, of Bagley, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. She was born on July 4, 1938, in Platteville, the daughter of Raymond and Mae (DeBord) Frazier. Liz married Bruce Gabel on November 24, 1957. Together they farmed near Bloomington. When they lived on Walnut Road, she would spend hours raking her huge yard, spending weekends making dozens of apple pies, and sitting on a five-gallon bucket husking and cleaning walnuts for hours. Liz had a racoon friend named Rascal, who would open her screen door wanting food. Bruce preceded her in death on April 21, 2003. On April 4, 2014, Liz was united in marriage to Steve Hessling at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington.
