Grant Ward Rouse, 67, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 20, 2026. Born in Downers Grove, Illinois, to Kenneth and Betty (Hanson) Rouse, Grant moved with his family to Cassville, Wisconsin, in 1976 when his father purchased the historic Denniston House.
It was in Cassville that Grant married Robin Walsh, with whom he shared four children. He was an amazing father, known for his patience and devotion to his kids during those formative years. Following his divorce, Grant moved to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, where he married Stella Barker. Grant and Stella shared a beautiful life together for 31 years.
In 2002, Grant followed his dream to move to Arkansas to live the “simple life.” A tireless hard worker, he dedicated many years to Ranger Boats in Flippin, AR, before retiring in 2021. This past year, he returned to his true home, Wisconsin, to fulfill his wish of spending more time with his children and grandchildren.
Grant was a man of boundless energy—often jokingly described as "a fart in a skillet" because he was always on the move. Being outdoors was his true "happy place." An avid fisherman and boater, he cherished time on the Mississippi River and camping with family at the River of Lakes Campground. On land, he was just as passionate about his old Mustangs and was a gifted handyman who loved tinkering on cars. He was also an excellent cook who truly expressed his love through food, finding great joy in experimenting with new flavors. Whether he was turning a wrench, cooking a feast, or relaxing by the water, he was usually listening to his favorite rock bands, like Aerosmith.
Grant’s move to Wisconsin in his youth also sparked the legendary "Rouse Rivalry." While his siblings remained loyal to the Chicago Bears, Grant became a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan, leading to decades of spirited banter during the NFL season.
Grant’s legacy lives on through his wife, Stella Rouse; his children: Robert (Donisha) Rouse, Katie (Nick) Hauk, Justin Rouse, and Patrick (Angelia) Rouse; and his stepchildren: Mike, Jennifer, John, and Stephanie Sanderson. He was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and held a very special bond with his grand-dog, Charlie. He is also survived by his siblings: Christine (Robert) McPherson, Lynn (Andy) Ferguson, Kenneth "Bones" Rouse, and James "JR" Rouse, along with many beloved nieces and a nephew.
Grant was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Floyd Rouse and Betty Mae (Hanson) Rouse; along with his in-law’s, Pal and Carol Barker.
