Janet K. Paulson

LANCASTER - Janet K. Paulson age 104, of Lancaster Wisconsin, passed away at Morningside Assisted Living Center.

Janet was born in Port Allegany, PA. She lived in this area until she joined the Army in 1943. She was a veteran of World War II and was stationed in San Antonio, as a Technician Fifth Grade. After the war with the help of the GI Bill, she attended Niagara University where she obtained her nursing degree. She trained in Buffalo, NY and New York City. Nursing was Janet’s lifetime career and calling. Janet worked in public health nursing while living in New York and Colorado. In 1960, she and her family moved to Madison. She worked and taught nursing at Central Colony. The family moved to Lancaster in 1963. When her husband, William became the first superintendent of the University Experimental Farm west of Lancaster. Janet was the first school nurse for the Lancaster School District and served all the schools. Janet worked as a school nurse for more than 20 years. Some of her interests included playing Bridge, doing Jigsaw puzzles, reading and exercising. She had been interested in exercising for physical fitness all her life. She walked at least 2 miles every day before it was a cool thing to do.

She is survived by her daughter, Natalie (Bret) Shisler of Keller, TX; grandchildren Glenn (Erin) Shisler of Ft. Worth, TX and Kyle Shisler of Muskego, WI; great-grandchildren Colton Shisler, Caleb, Shisler and Cayden Shisler.

She was preceded in death by her husband William Paulson; great grandson Collin Shisler; grand daughter-in-law Rebecca Shisler and her siblings.

The family would like to thank Morningside and St. Croix Hospice for their excellent care for Janet.

A celebration of her life will be held later. Kramer-Grau Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
