Janice M. Johll

LANCASTER – Janice Mary Johll, age 79, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at MercyOne in Dubuque, Iowa. She was born on February 17, 1947, in Glen Haven Township, the daughter of Albert and Leone (Eulgem) Walz.

Janice attended grade school in Glen Haven and graduated from Bloomington High School with the Class of 1965. She continued her education at a vocational school in La Crosse. On April 30, 1966, she was united in marriage to Warren Johll at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glen Haven. Together, they farmed until 1972 before Janice began a career that reflected her strong work ethic and caring nature.

Over the years, Janice worked at Kaber’s, the Arrow Inn, IGA, and Mega Foods. She later served as a baker at Orchard Manor Nursing Home for fifteen years, retiring in 2006.

Retirement brought many adventures for Janice and Warren, who loved traveling together. They created lasting memories while visiting Alaska, Hawaii, the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, Banff National Park, and the Smoky Mountains. Among all their travels, Janice especially cherished their trips to Branson, Missouri with LuAnn and Gene Wagner.

Janice and Warren also enjoyed making crafts together, with Warren building beanbag boards and Janice sewing the matching bags. She loved playing cards, cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events, and spending time with those she loved most. Above all, Janice's greatest joy was her family, and her love for them was immeasurable.

Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Warren; children: Mark (Patti) Johll; Dan (Lynnette) Johll; Ken (LuAnne) Johll, Donna (Craig) Hanson; 24 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two on the way; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Carl and Viola Johll; a son, Wayne Johll; a granddaughter, Megan Johll; her siblings: Harold (Rose) Walz; Robert (Virginia) Walz; Gene (Pat) Walz; Lois (Vernon) Krantz; and a brother-in-law, Michael Johll.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father Sudhakar Devarapu officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery, South Lancaster Township. Family and friends may visit on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Kramer-Grau Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with her care.
