Robert E. Austin

WAUNAKEE – Robert E. Austin, age 91, of Waunakee, formerly of Lancaster, passed away on June 8, 2026, at Waunakee Valley Senior Living. He was born October 31, 1934, the son of Arther E. and Jessie (Bailey) Austin in Lancaster. Robert graduated from Lancaster High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1955. On November 26, 1955, he was united in marriage to Beverlie Roesch in Lancaster. Robert later attended the University of Wisconsin Platteville, graduating in 1961. He was employed at International Harvester and WPS Insurance. Robert enjoyed boating, traveling with family and collecting Bosson Heads. He was an avid swimmer and was an original member of the Madison Divers Club.

Robert is survived by his wife, Beverlie; children: Elizabeth (Charles) Fritz and Barbara (Dr. David Monson) Austin; grandchildren: Keith (Mary Anne) and Dr. Brian (Mary Alexandra) Fritz, Casey (Samantha Mahajan), Dillon and Bailey Austin; four great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Janis Roesch; as well as nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert J. Austin; brother: Arthur James; sister-in-law, Geraldine Austin; and brother-in-law, Gerald Roesch.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Kramer-Grau Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lancaster. Burial with military honors accorded by the Richard Burns American Legion Post No. 109, William Pollock VFW Post No. 2344 and the DAV Chapter 40 will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may visit on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Kramer-Grau Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
