Robert A. "Bob" Eck will be fishing in heaven from now on. He passed away peacefully after a long hard battle on Friday, February 17, 2017. He was born on April 4, 1937, to Ray and Bernice Eck in Waterloo Township. Robert was a workaholic but always made time for his family, playing cards, hunting, and fishing. After serving four years in the Air Force he worked in petroleum distribution and farming. Bob was a 30 year veteran on the Lancaster Fire Department. He served on many committees for the First Presbyterian Church where he has been member for nearly 60 years. Bob was also a member of the Mississippi Valley I.O.O.F. Lodge #86 and the Richard Burns American Legion Post No. 109 of Lancaster.
Robert is survived by his wife of 59 1/2 years Phyllis (Nickel), daughters: Angela (David) Dunn of Neenah and Christine (Brian) Corell of Lancaster; grandchildren, Matt Dunn (fianc Jackie Kamps) Erin Dunn, Kessa (Brandon) Klaas, Johanah (William) Hood, Brian Corell, Megan (Nick) Sommers, Jimmy Eck, and great-grandchildren: Kesandra, Kyla, Kaci, and Bentli Klaas. Bob is further survived by sisters: LaVon (Albert) Miller and Betty (Paul) Pluemer and brother, Roger (Shirley) Eck; sisters-in-law: Dorothea Eck, Kay Eck, Doris Eck, Donna (Phil) Nickson; brothers-in-law: La Vern Nickel and Carson Clifton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jim Eck, his parents; siblings: Stanley, Virgil, Clayton Eck and Vivian Alcott; in-laws: Sylvia and Arlie Nickel; sisters-in-law: Arlene Clifton and MaryAlyce Nickel; brother-in-law, John Alcott, and many dear friends and fishing buddies.
Memorial services along with military honors will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 12:00 noon until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with the services.
