LANCASTER – Shirley Duncan, age 91, of Lancaster, formerly of Beetown, passed away on July 7, 2026, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster. She was born to John and Dorothy (Wamsley) Chapman on October 24, 1934. Shirley grew up on a farm near Beetown and went to Muscallounge Country School until she entered Bloomington High School. When she graduated, she married Norman Duncan on December 10, 1952. They built a family and loving home in Beetown. Shirley’s passion was music. She self-taught guitar, piano and accordion. The talent of her voice and the accordion gave her the opportunity to be in a band, Leo & Rendezvous Trio. Shirley was the organist for the Beetown Methodist Church for many years and later volunteered her talent playing for church services at local nursing homes and assisted living facilities. She enjoyed camping and fishing with family and singing around the campfire. Shirley was also a longtime member of Royal Neighbors of America, Beetown Chapter 1685. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
Shirley is survived by her six children: Rebecca Bohnenkamp of Lancaster, Cynthia Reuter of Stratford, Tammy (Dick) Stenner of Lancaster, Susanne (Roger) Landon of Lancaster, Jody (Travis) Duncan-Hartig of Gleason, and Thomas Duncan of Marshfield; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters: Beverly Niveral of Rice Lake, Marilyn Dunnington of California, and Karen (Ken) Young of Rice Lake; brother, Gene (Sue) Chapman of Fennimore; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Chapman of Glen Haven.
In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Norman Duncan; son-in-law, David Reuter; brothers: Harold and Robert “Bob” Chapman; and in-laws: Dennis and Lillian “Bid” Duncan, Gerald and Iona “Sis” Mayne, Zena Gratton and Calvin Dunnington.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Kramer-Grau Funeral Homes and Crematory in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial will be held in Burns Cemetery, Beetown, Wisconsin. Family and friends may gather from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Kramer-Grau Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
