Sydney Jo Fecht

Sydney Jo Fecht, age 23, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Grant Regional Health Center. She was born February 1, 2003, in Madison, the daughter of Ryan and Shelly (Bierman) Fecht.

Syd graduated from Potosi High School in 2021 and continued her education at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, where she earned a degree in Early Childhood Education. She absolutely loved her job as a Patient Access Representative at Southwest Health and often talked about her coworkers, especially Megan, and how much she enjoyed working with them. Before that, she loved watching Greyson. Syd had always wanted a child, she thought of him as her own. She would have done anything for that little boy.

Family meant everything to Syd. She treasured the time she spent with her grandma and grandpa Fecht growing up and, in recent years, especially loved going to church and having breakfast with her grandma Sharon. She adored her aunts, uncles, and cousins and loved being surrounded by the people she cared about.

Syd loved people; the more, the merrier. She loved family vacations to North Carolina, Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, and Tennessee. She loved boat rides on the lake. She also loved Jeep rides, probably more than anything

Syd had a beautiful soul and a heart of gold. She was always complimenting people, not only to make them feel good, but because she genuinely saw the best in everyone. She would have done anything for anyone and gave 110% to the people she loved.

She loved ice cream and just about anything sweet. Syd loved shopping and was definitely a girlie girl.

Syd loved having people visit her home in Platteville and was so proud of how her dad fixed it up. When she was younger, she would point out little houses, saying, “Wow, that house is so nice.” Syd truly saw the good in everything.

Cancer never defined Syd. She loved every minute of life and never let cancer stop her from doing what she wanted to do. Even after surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation, she continued to live with incredible strength and joy. Whenever you asked how she was doing, she would simply say, “Just loving life.”

She was always thinking of others. Even while going through so much herself, she was more concerned with how others were doing. That was Syd. Her own struggles never stopped her from caring for the people she loved.

Syd was a light to so many people. Her smile could light up a room, and her laugh was contagious. She didn't need alcohol to have fun. She had a beautiful singing voice, although unfortunately, she didn't let many people hear it.

Syd loved Soph, her fur baby, so much, even though she always teased that her mom loved Soph more than her. More than anything, Syd loved her mom and dad. She hid a lot of her pain because she didn't want them to worry. Syd wanted to make them proud and she did. She made all of us proud.

Syd gave the best hugs, had the kindest heart, and loved deeply. She reminded us to find joy in the little things, to tell people we love them, and to keep loving life no matter what we are facing.

Her smile, her laugh, her hugs, and her beautiful spirit will be missed more than words can say.

Syd lived. She loved. Syd made people feel loved. And she left a light behind that will never go out.

Survivors include her parents, Ryan and Shelly Fecht; her maternal grandmother, Sharon Bierman; her paternal grandmother, Maggie Fecht; her aunts and uncles: Craig (Melissa) Bierman; Stacey (Tony) Wagner; Brad (Suzy) Bierman; Tina (Tim) Martin; Tim (Makila) Fecht; Angie (Rick) Kruser; many cousins who were more like siblings to Syd; her best friend, Martia; great-aunts and great-uncles; other relatives and many friends.

Syd was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, DeWayne Bierman; her paternal grandfather, James Fecht; and dear friend, Misty Walsh.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Potosi. Private family burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, Tennyson. A Celebration of Syd’s Life will be held on Monday, September 7, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Holiday Gardens in Potosi. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Sydney Jo Fecht Memorial Fund has been established. Kramer-Grau Funeral Homes & Crematory in Potosi is entrusted with her care.
