William D. "Bill" Johnson

MT. HOPE – William D. “Bill” Johnson, age 85, of Mt. Hope, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, at his home. He was born on February 27, 1941, in California, the son of Edgar and Buela (Jackson) Johnson. Bill served his country in the United States Marine Corp. during Vietnam and graduated from high school in Hawaii during his time of service. Following his honorable discharge, Bill worked as a mechanic. On June 3, 1978, he was united in marriage to Debra Wiedemann. After their marriage the couple made their home in Mt. Hope. Bill was a handy man and enjoyed tinkering. He could make any project Debra came up with. Bill enjoyed fishing and dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife, Debra; children: Treva Patterson, Shane (Heidie) Johnson, Julie (David) Abate, and Bob (Kaley) Johnson; fifteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his brother, Calvin Johnson; other relatives and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Imojean Schuessler, Bob Johnson, and Peggy Monroe.

Family will greet friends on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Kramer-Grau Funeral Homes & Crematory in Bloomington. Burial with military honors will follow at Union Nagle Cemetery, Patch Grove Township.
